When should I get my child’s eyes tested?

  • We recommend that you have your child’s eyes tested just before they start school. Unless, of course you notice a big defect, like a turn, before that age. Children may not always be able to articulate vision problems, and issues like nearsightedness or amblyopia (lazy eye) can significantly impact their learning and development. Early detection of vision problems in children is crucial for ensuring proper eye health and addressing any potential barriers to their academic success.
